As a Technical Writer on our team, you will play a critical role in helping our customers understand and use our cloud database offerings, including Cloud Databases, which enable customers to build and deploy faster, deliver transformational applications, and maintain data portability and control.
Job Summary
As a Technical Writer - Google Cloud Database Documentation, you will work closely with engineers, product management, and other stakeholders to create high-quality technical documentation for our cloud database services. You will be responsible for planning, designing, writing, and publishing documentation that helps customers understand and use our products effectively. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive and prioritize technical writing, mentor and support other authors, and contribute to the development of best practices and innovations in technical writing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, write, and publish technical documentation for cloud database services, including critical customer journeys, concepts, and guidelines for how customers do business.
- Collaborate with engineers, product management, UX researchers, and UI partners to identify critical user journeys and create information architectures that help customers along these journeys.
- Develop and maintain documentation that is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to a technical audience.
- Mentor and support other authors on the Cloud Databases team, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Participate in content strategy discussions and contribute to the development of content plans and roadmaps.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in cloud computing, technical writing, and related fields.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of technical writing experience, preferably in a cloud computing or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with databases, SQL, NoSQL, and cloud products.
- Experience in a related role, creating technical documentation for a technical audience, preferably for enterprise cloud services.
- HTML or Markdown skills; Unix environment skills.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, support multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven communication and team skills and strong initiative.
