This role leads a team of system analysts and PACS administrators and is responsible for the management of the hospital's PACS system (Fuji Synapse), Epic radiology workflows, integrations across various imaging modalities, and over 20 specialty-specific software solutions used across multiple departments, including oncology, cardiology, gastroenterology, urology, orthopedics, and more. - Oversee the operation and maintenance of the hospital’s PACS systems, ensuring seamless integration with Epic radiology workflows and other departmental specialty-specific software, including Epic Mammography.
- Manage the integration of imaging modalities and imaging devices, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance within the IT infrastructure.
- Ensure the stability, security, and performance of the imaging ecosystem, including modality integrations, dictation systems, and remote radiology reading solutions.
- Oversee the implementation and ongoing support of solutions, including regular upgrades to maintain up-to-date functionality.
- Work closely with department leads to understand clinical needs and translate them into technology solutions.
- Collaborate with network infrastructure teams to ensure that the network architecture supports high-volume imaging data and provides scalability, security, and availability for all imaging systems.
- Implement and manage disaster recovery and business continuity plans for imaging systems, ensuring quick recovery and minimal disruption in case of system failure or other emergencies.
- Regularly review and test backup and recovery procedures for imaging systems.
- Stay up to date with emerging imaging technologies and AI trends, evaluating their potential for integration into the hospital’s imaging systems.
- Collaborate with radiology leadership to assess the effectiveness of AI tools and other advanced imaging technologies in improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency.
- Work closely with clinical departments to identify technology needs and ensure the imaging systems support clinical operations and patient care workflows.
- Partner with external vendors and third-party service providers to ensure smooth integration and operation of third-party services and tools.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure that all imaging systems align with broader IT infrastructure goals, including security, interoperability, and scalability.
- Report regularly to senior leadership on system performance, key metrics, and potential risks or issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Healthcare IT, Computer Science, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- 7+ years of experience in IT healthcare systems, with a strong background in imaging technologies and radiology workflows.
- Experience managing and supporting PACS systems, radiology information systems (RIS), and specialty-specific software.
- Familiarity with Epic radiology workflows and integration with clinical systems.
- Strong understanding of imaging modalities, including MRI, CT, X-ray, ultrasound, and other diagnostic imaging tools.
- Experience managing network infrastructure and designing disaster recovery plans for imaging systems.
- Experience with AI technologies and their integration into clinical workflows (particularly in imaging).
- In-depth knowledge of imaging system management, including PACS, RIS, AI.
- Strong understanding of network architecture and design, with a focus on high availability, security, and business continuity for imaging systems.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, and data security best practices.
- Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects, including vendor management and integration of third-party systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex IT and imaging issues.
- Certification in PACS, radiology systems, or healthcare IT (e.g., Certified PACS Administrator, RHIA, or similar).
- Familiarity with AI tools used in imaging and healthcare.
- Previous experience working in a hospital or healthcare system environment.
