In this Cloud Engineer role, you'll be part of a skilled team responsible for building scalable, secure, and highly available cloud-based services within our hybrid-based platform-as-a-service (PaaS). You'll develop technical solutions to enhance the American Express Cloud platform, with a focus on building automation for highly scalable cloud services delivery. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with other API engineering teams, UI engineering teams, quality engineering teams, and product management to build scalable, high-performance quality API and integration solutions.
- Researching and applying emerging technologies and libraries that enable lean product development.
- Implementing API/Middleware solutions that integrate with NSQL databases, platforms, and partner systems.
- Executing best software practices that produce efficient code, including convenience patterns, code style consistency, integration, unit testing, and code review.
- Being passionate about developing working software with a willingness to learn new technologies.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Private Cloud).
- Experience in developing REST APIs using Google's GoLang and/or Java.
- Experience with Cloud Engineering, CI/CD, Kubernetes, Openshift, Docker, etc.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with NSQL databases.
- Familiarity with agile application development methodologies and understanding of QE processes overall.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
While not mandatory, having the following qualifications and skills can be beneficial:
- A four-year college degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Familiarity with agile application development methodologies and understanding of QE processes overall.
